A little Football

In the last few days, the fact that the NFL is all about business, was very apparent.  The fact that the Colts just released one of the best receivers in history (Marvin Harrison), and now today the Bucs released 5 of the best players in their teams history. I don’t live in Tampa anymore, but I still follow the team and I find it hard to believe that this move is going to help the team. I guess Bucs fans can look forward to 3-4 years of rebuilding!

TAMPA, Fla. -- Derrick Brooks, one of the top players in Tampa Bay history, was cut by the Buccaneers on Wednesday in a purge of the team's older players.

Brooks, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year when Tampa Bay won the Super Bowl after the 2002 season, was among five players cut, four of them older than 32-year-old Raheem Morris, the team's new head coach.

The others were wide receivers Joey Galloway and Ike Hilliard, running back Warrick Dunn and linebacker Cato June. The 29-year-old June is the only player under 30 and the only one younger than Morris.

The moves caught Brooks by surprise.

"Right now, like all of you guys, I'm just trying to get a feel for it all, trying to come to grips with it," the 11-time Pro Bowl selection said by telephone. "I don't even know what to think."

Carrie at the Airport

I went back and forth about whether to post these pictures and blog about it, but here it goes.  I have always thought it was strange, that people are fascinated by pictures of stars, walking down the street, at a restaurant, or at the airport, but then this morning I found myself checking out the various gossip sites, because they had pictures of Carrie at the LAX airport flying home to Nashville.  For whatever reason, Carrie Underwood just fascinates me.  It started with her beautiful voice, and then after seeing her in concert and actually meeting her in person, it became more…  Each time I have met her, she just seemed so real and down to earth.  Now I find myself checking her Fan Club website each day, to get all the latest news and pictures and maybe even a blog from Carrie herself.  Just today, Carrie was online at the FC and I found myself just checking out all the different posts that she was checking out.  I am currently regretting my decision not to get tickets for Carrie’s Grand Ole Opry show next weekend.  Like everyone, I am worried about the economy and my job security, so I am trying to actually put some money into my savings, so I decided against flying to Nashville for the show.  I was really counting on the show being aired on GAC, but for whatever reason they are not airing the show.  Well enough about my Carrie obsession, I definitely got off the subject there.  Anyways, here are the pictures that started this whole, strange post…

4/5 Oscar Picks

So, I was 4 out of 5 with my Oscar picks.  My only mistake was thinking that the Academy would think that one Oscar was enough for Sean Penn. I really thought that the comeback of the year would be completed with a win for Mickey Rourke….  Overall, it was an interesting show.  They really tried to shake things up with the set design and the way the awards were presented.  My favorite acceptance speech of the night was Kate Winslet’s. I was so happy she finally got the Oscar that she has deserved for a while.  Other than the awards, the main reason that people watch, including me, is to see the stars.  For me the most beautiful star of the evening was Natalie Portman.  She doesn’t show up in public much unless she is promoting a movie, so it has been a while since I have seen pictures of her, but last night she was just stunning…

Unfortunately, the rumor about Carrie attending the Oscars was not true…Well kind of not true, she actually attended Elton John’s Viewing Party.  Naturally she looked Stunning and very Classy!!!

The Academy Awards, Slideshows, and Carrie

I am not sure what it means that I haven’t seen any of the movies up for best picture at tonight’s Academy Awards, but it can’t be a good thing (lol)! In fact of all the major categories, the only performance that I have seen is Heath Ledgers in Dark Knight. It always is more fun to watch the Oscars when you are rooting for a film or actor/actress, so I have decided to make my predictions even though I haven’t seen any of the movies…

Best Actor- Mickey Rourke

Best Actress- Kate Winslet

Best Supporting Actor- Heath Ledger

Best Supporting Actress- Penelope Cruz

Best Picture- Slumdog Millionaire

In other Oscar news, there were rumors flying around that Carrie might be attending the event and maybe even presenting… This morning I found some  pictures of her arriving at the LA airport last night, so maybe she will be attending!!!

Carrie Underwood

I spent a few hours yesterday trying to figure out how to add a slideshow to the blog.  After finally figuring it out, when I came back this morning it wasn’t loading, and neither were the videos that I had posted in earlier blogs.  I just went on and they appear to be loading now, so check out the slideshow of Carries concert in Denver last March.  It was an amazing show!  I was even lucky enough to win a Meet and Greet with Carrie before the concert.  She is as sweet as she is Talented and Beautiful!!!

Mandy Moore is engaged!

So, I heard over the weekend that Mandy Moore is now engaged to Ryan Adams.  I was one of the few people during the hey day of TRL and Britney and Christina,  that actually preferred Mandy.  I always thought she was so beautiful and talented.  She hasn’t been in the news lately and I have no idea where her career is at now, but hearing the news made me think back a few years ago  when she was one of my favorites.  I’ve actually liked a few of the movies she’s done, my favorite being “A Walk To Remember” .

Carrie at Disney World for AI event

So it has been a very busy last few days in Carrie Underwood news. Tonight she was at Disney World in Florida for the opening of the AI attraction.  They had a little parade and Carrie even performed a couple of songs at a private show.  Also there are unconfirmed reports that Carrie will be performing at the Oscars.  It will be so great if this turns out to be true.  Below are some pictures and video from tonight's event. The pictures of Carrie with Mickey are so cute lol…

Great Grammy Reviews for Carrie

Great reviews for Carrie’s Grammy performance:

Best Best Performance - The New York Observer

With apologies to Radiohead, who performed their song “15 Step” with the USC Marching Band (the first time in history of earth that being in the marching band could be considered cool), no one brought the house down like… Carrie Underwood? Really, we were surprised, too. But Ms. Underwood’s performance of her Best Female Country Vocal-winning “Last Name”, a salacious number about a potential one-night stand that turns into a quickie Vegas wedding, was unbelievable. Showcasing her booming voice and a fantastic stage presence, “Last Name” made us want to reconsider the entire country music genre. If the songs sound like this, then sign us up! (Ms. Underwood was more rocking than Best Rock Album winners Coldplay.) Unfortunately the crowd didn’t give her a standing ovation, something that certainly doesn’t bode well for her Q rating. The only thing Ms. Underwood received was some polite applause from Kenny Chesney and our 99 cents when we purchased her song. But hey, every little bit helps!

Time Grades the Top Grammy Performances - Time Magazine

Underwood delivers a saucy performance to match the sauciest song of her young career — and I like! In the past Underwood has looked a little overwhelmed in big rooms, but this time she seizes control of the crowd and rocks them hard.
Grade: A

Carrie was the Top search for Yahoo on Monday. Even beating out Rihanna and Chris Brown.  I won’t even comment on that situation. It’s jus SAD!!!

Steroids, Grammies, and Lady A

I am beginning to wonder if any of our current sports stars today are free of Performance Enhancing drugs. When I first heard about this story, I was hoping it was false, But here is the video of Alex Rodriquez admitting to taking steroids.  Unbelievable!!!

Now on to some happier news.  I am still pretty psyched about Carrie winning her fourth Grammy last night.  Not only did she look beautiful, but in all her interviews she came across as a humble, classy, and thoughtful young woman. Carrie’s acceptance speech was wonderful.

Her performance was AMAZING as well!!!
Unfortunately, Lady Antebellum didn’t win for Best New Artist, but they got some great news on the talk show “Ellen” today.  Their CD just went gold!!  Check out their performance and Ellen surprising them with the gold record…

Carrie Wins another Grammy

Carrie won her fourth Grammy tonight. She won in the best female country performance for her song “Last Name” It is just amazing how much she has accomplished in 4 short years.

Carrie also gave a rocked out performance of “Last Name” during the televised show.
Carrie looked amazing at the Clive Davis Pre Grammy party on Saturday and on the Grammy red carpet on Sunday.

Carrie and Keith one year ago tonight…

Carrie and Keith Urban sang a duet for the first time a year ago tonight. it was the second show of their tour together and Carrie surprised the audience by coming out during Keith’s set and they performed a cover of Rhianna’s “Umbrella”  It was a great thing to see live.  My video above doesn’t do it justice. Carrie looked amazing as usual!!!
